 Why Vinolok™

The reason for trying the glass closure was prosaic: Vinolok™ allows the wine to mature naturally, by preventing external influences. With the winery’s aim to produce wines as organically as possible, it comes at the cost of hard work and dedication. Doing everything possible to deliver the best possible wine, doing everything in their power to ensure that every bottle comes out exactly as they intended, leaves no room for mistakes or unreliable solutions.

About

Family Winery Tement, nestled in the Zieregg vineyard, is renowned for its exceptional white wines. Led by Manfred Tement, the winery has gained international acclaim. Their commitment to organic principles and membership in the Demeter Association contribute to their stellar reputation. The winery produces a diverse range of grape varieties, but their main focus is on Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon (Chardonnay), and Gelber Muskateller, each expressing the unique terroir of southern Styria. The winery has been part of the Demeter association since 2022, and is also a respekt-BIODYN group member – for Armin and Stefan Tement, that was the next logical step after converting to organic farming. For the family, winemaking within a circular economy means more than biodiversity and sustainability. It’s the biodynamic preservation of the natural balance at the winery.

Beginning

Originally developed by the German pharmacist, Dr Matheis, the glass closure became popular in Germany and Austria soon after its introduction. And as most winemakers were satisfied with its performance, they talked to their colleagues about it, and influenced them to try it. And it was no different at the Tement winery. They were persuaded by their colleagues, the Sattler family, to try the glass closure.

Experience

For the Tement winery, the glass closure is proving to be a reliable solution. It works well with their organic wines because glass is the most inert material there is. With it, the quality of the wine is guaranteed, and their hard work preserved. It is also widely accepted by customers who appreciate the ease of opening the bottle.
