Using Vinolok™ since
2005
Winemaking
Biodynamic viticulture since 1979, all wines fermented with pied de cuve (vineyard yeast), low interaction wine making, only light filtration; whites: mostly in large oak and stainless steel tank reds: mostly in oak, small and large.
Why Vinolok™
Loacker Wine Estate has chosen the innovative Vinolok™ closure as a testament to its commitment to sustainability and quality. The choice of the glass closure is in line with their pursuit of environmentally friendly practices, and marks a departure from conventional methods. They confirm that Vinolok™’s unique design has minimal impact on the wine’s maturation, ensuring that the essence of the wine is preserved. This decision reflects Loacker’s commitment to making a difference in the wine industry, while maintaining the integrity of their product.
About
Loacker Wine Estate’s three distinct estates are a testament to their biodynamic philosophy. Corte Pavone in Tuscany offers a picturesque landscape, while Schwarhof in South Tyrol is enveloped by the Dolomites. The third estate, Valdifalco, also in Tuscany, is known for its robust reds. Each estate reflects the Loacker family’s commitment to harmony with nature, producing wines that are as authentic as the terrain they come from. Their commitment to organic practices for over 40 years has produced unique, dynamic wines. Today, Rainer Loacker’s sons, Hayo and Franz Josef, continue the legacy, embodying their father’s pioneering spirit.
Beginning
The first encounter with the glass closure came in 2002, when Hayo saw an advertisement in a winemakers’ magazine. Alcoa, the distributor of glass closures at the time, was looking for winemakers to try the new closure and share their experiences. There was no doubt in their minds that the closure would work, as they knew that the wine’s contact with external materials would be minimal, and that glass had proven to be the perfect material for storing wine.
Experience
They have expressed their preference for Vinolok™ as the ideal closure for sulfite-free wines. Following the introduction of a new sulfite-free wine, Sangiovese Maremma “Vin Méthode Nature” 2022, they consider Vinolok™ to be the unrivalled choice for sealing such bottles.
